Graffiti (singular: graffito) is writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place.
A seldom known fact about me is…..
I like LOVE graffiti. What can I say, I’m from “Brick City”. I’m used to be surrounded by the stuff. There’s something about the lines, artistic sketching, and often boldness that just draws me in. Admitting that I like graffiti feels like I’ve just condoned the defacing of property but I know that what I most enjoy is that a lot of graffiti has an underlying social or political message. It can represent the voice of people that would overwise be considered unimportant or forgotten. Graffiti is the heartbeat of the streets… Whoa buddy, there I go getting all poetic about things.
Needless to say, I draw the line at random, useless graffiti, gang tagging, or obscenity but show me a good tag on the side of a building and I’m all in.
